‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Kevin Hart plays ball with Jason Sudeikis
After a pretty solid “Saturday Night Live” with actor Christoph Waltz and a ho-hum one featuring Justin Bieber, it seems to be the perfect time for the show to embrace comedy first and foremost. With that in mind, it’s safe to say that we’re beyond excited for this weekend’s edition featuring Kevin Hart. There are not many hotter standup acts out there, and with his talents extending into writing and producing, you know that he is probably coming to the show with some pretty interesting ideas of his own.
As for the new promo for this weekend’s show, it’s actually one of the funnier ones that we’ve seen. Hart has a great chemistry with Jason Sudeikis, and the two riff on everything from dancing to Hart’s height (with an assist from Bobby Moynihan) to their supposedly mutual love for basketball. There’s a nice mixture in here of jokes with physical comedy, so you know that Hart is not afraid ultimately to tackle just about anything that the show’s producers throw at him.
Hart is the first pure comedian to host the show since Martin Short did just before the holidays, and he was one of the better captains of the ship all season long. Comedians are just able to go into this sort of gig with more confidence, and also a greater sense of openness to listen to suggestions and try various things to draw a laugh. At the same time, there may also be more pressure on them to be funny given that they do this sort of thing for a living.
What do you think about this promo, and are your hopes high for Hart’s show? If you want to see some details about when Justin Timberlake is making a return visit to host, you can do so over at the link here.
