‘Family Guy’: Seth MacFarlane says no to hosting Oscars again
Did you enjoy Seth MacFarlane as the host of the Oscars? If so, you’re probably going to be pretty sad at the notion that he is not going to be coming back to the awards show for another go.
In a new post on Twitter in response to a follower, the “Family Guy” creator and “Ted” director said “no way” to the idea of hosting the show again. However, he did say that it was a “lotta fun” to take on the challenge once. MacFarlane’s show ultimately received some pretty strong ratings, but it was also the subject of some criticism. Some of the more vocal critics were unhappy with the off-color humor early on in the show, whereas others loved it and believed that Seth brought a touch of Hollywood to the show while also trying to relevant to some younger viewers.
Perhaps the most poignant comment that MacFarlane made on Twitter was actually not his discussion of hosting again; rather, it was how he responded to criticism of a certain song he performed during the opening with a link to an image gallery showcasing the media obsession with sideboob (which, by estimation, is probably the dumbest thing of all time).
Personally, we’re a little bummed about this: while we don’t necessarily think that MacFarlane’s show was the best ever, it was easily the strongest Oscars in a few years. Plus, we think that his only real problem were the nerves he faced early on during the show, and those would have went away in a year’s time.
