‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Becki Newton to return as Quinn

The victory lap for “How I Met Your Mother’s” returning guest stars continue. Kyle MacLachlan, Joe Manganiello, Rachel Bilson, and Ashley Williams already made return visits this season as the Captain, Brad, Cindy, and Victoria, and we have a return from Jayma Mays (who played a small part in season 1 before becoming a breakout star on “Glee”) also coming up.

So who is also heading back to the show now? It’s none other than Barney’s ex-fiancee Quinn! According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Becki Newton (who has a good relationship with creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas thanks to their work on the still-unaired series “The Goodwin Games”) will make one more appearance as her character, a stripped who refused to give up her job unless Barney decided to marry her.

During much of the season last year, the relationship between these two was going strong, but it ultimately fizzled out rather quickly in in the fall after Quinn realized the full extent of Barney’s history with Robin (which he in part hid from her). While we’re excited to see Quinn again on the show, at the same time it’s pretty easy to admit that we don’t know what else she has to add to the story. Barney has barely even mentioned her since her departure, and what she really represents (him proving that he can make a commitment to someone and not cheat on them) is almost more important than who she really was.
