ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 2: Kerry Washington shows skin in Oscars promo (video)

Well, we now know who wore the least during the Academy Awards on Sunday night. As any smart network would do, ABC took advantage of a number of opportunities on Sunday night to promote their own series, and “Scandal” clearly took center stage with a saucy promo that was incredibly effective for a number of reasons.

First, they were smart to place Kerry Washington front and center, as she was in attendance at the Oscars and her red dress managed to receive a great deal of attention while out on the red carpet. Then, they managed to strip her down for this promo into just a set of white underwear that does seem very much appropriate for one Olivia Pope (and is something that may convince a few guys out there to actually tune in).

In addition to all of this, the last effective thing that this “Scandal” promo really does is simply to paint the premise of what the show is about in a way in which new viewers will understand: we have a woman that is in the middle of an affair with the President of the United States, and there are all sorts of complications that come along with that. It’s a simple and effective message to pass on; while the show is about a great deal more than just Olivia and Fitz, there is no way that this would fit into a promo of this length. With this in mind, the folks at ABC really did make the best of the time that was allotted for them.
