‘Shark Tank’ preview: Muddy Water Camo reminds us of ‘Duck Dynasty’
Is it wrong that whenever we see duck hunting now, we automatically picture in our heads some guys running around sporting gigantic beards? This is the sort of imprint that “Duck Dynasty” has left on our minds, and as a fan of the A&E show (but not hunting), the Robertson clan is the first thing that we think of when we hear duck calls.
However, the product we are about to show off from Friday night’s “Shark Tank” has nothing to do with “Duck Dynasty” at all; however, they do still have a product that could be interesting to this industry. Muddy Water Camo is designed specifically for the purpose of actually providing photo-realistic camouflage for people trying to hide within muddy water while hunting, and based on the evidence presented by the products two creators to the sharks, it seems to do a pretty good job.
While we understand the benefits of the product, though, there are still a number of reasons why we could see there being trouble getting a deal done here. Hunting is a seasonal business for one, and Kevin O’Leary has already proclaimed himself to be against the identity of spending money on something that can only be done for a small percentage of the year. In addition to that, they are asking for an evaluation in the millions despite their sales being a fraction of that.
The last issue we have is something a little more ethical: not everyone out there in America is a fan of hunting, and wants to be involved in something that sets off animal-rights activists. We honestly don’t know if any of the sharks are big hunting fanatics, and we really can’t picture either Mark Cuban or Lori Grenier biting here. The best bet may be Robert Herjavec, if for no other reason than that he has shown an interest in a number of other sporting events (including racing).
Do you think that this is an interesting product, and do you think that there will be a deal made? If you want to check out some other highlights from “Shark Tank” this season, you can do so over at the link here.
