ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5, episode 15 review: The hunt for Alexis
We knew that Monday night’s “Castle” season 5 episode was going to be a tear-jerker, but little did we know that it was going to be as emotional as it was. Seeing Rick’s daughter Alexis be a part of a kidnapping ring was exceptionally painful, especially as the character felt such a deep sense of responsibility for trying to solve a mystery that he was too close to see objectively. It made for a stirring hour of television, and one that will leave us on the edge of our seat for a good 6 days and 23 hours.
One of the other sad elements about this case is that it was really thanks to Alexis’ video blog, the same one that Castle warned her about, that really led to her and a friend being kidnapped. We’ve been led to believe that the latter was the real target, but who knows if that is really the case? The FBI was of course brought in to help try and figure this out, but even they were really no help at all in trying to figure this out. Eventually, one suspect was identified … but they ended up being dead.
Ultimately, it was actually Alexis herself who ended up being the catalyst in pushing this case forward. When she and her friend escaped briefly from their captivity, she found a phone and was able to use it to Skype her dad. This in turn led to the police being able to track the location … which was shockingly in Pairs, France. This case just got international, and it surely raises a few questions as to how in the world the kidnappers were able to drug their victims for long enough to get them onto another continent.
