‘How I Met Your Mother’: Joss Whedon talks Cobie Smulders in ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’
So is it possible that Cobie Smulders could find some time in between starring on “How I Met Your Mother” to appear in “S.H.I.E.L.D.”? This show is clearly one of the most-anticipated pilots that ABC has going at the moment, and in turn, Smulders was on of the stars of “The Avengers” who has a real chance of stopping by in the Marvel adaptation.
So if the show does in fact make it to air, we are sure that the actress will show up eventually as Maria Hill. However, creator Joss Whedon (who will be helping to oversee the series) tells TVLine in a new interview that her involvement is going to be minimal thanks to her busy schedule working on “How I Met Your Mother,” but he also added that “if we can get a hold of her anytime, we will.”
What may end up working easily in the show’s favor without a doubt is that Smulders only has one year left of “How I Met Your Mother” after this one. If the Marvel adaptation does well and is renewed for a second season, the odds are significantly higher that Hill could pay a larger visit to the show. There are no plans to re-cast the role, though, and Whedon says that one of his priorities is to make sure that the series is capable of standing on its own two feet, without many of the characters that we have met in some of the recent movies.
