‘Shark Tank’ preview: SMARTwheel introduced by young inventors
Sometimes on “Shark Tank,” there are products that are inspiring for a number of reasons; and with this very thing in mind, we’re pleased to introduce the latest one in the SMARTwheel. Not only is this product something that fills a need, it also is being pitched here by six youngsters, many of whom are not even old enough to drive.
The basic premise of the product is very simple: whenever the wheel attachment detects that you are participating in any unsafe driving habits, it alerts you via sound, lights, and can also be set to notify a third party such as your parents. This is a surefire way in which to remind any driver if they are participating in unsafe habits, which could in turn lower the accident rate among young people.
If there is one major problem with the SMARTwheel product, it’s simple this: these six youngsters are asking $100,000 for 15% of their company. This is quite an evaluation for any product on this show, though to be fair we don’t know at the moment whether or not they have any sales. Who knows? This could be the most brilliant product that we haven’t heard anything about. The only other concern that we can think of is that for some drivers, having something like this flash lights and make noises at you could be just the sort of knee-jerking split-second distraction that could cause plenty of problems on its own (the same way as somebody walking up behind you and shouting “boo!”).
What do you think about this product, and do you see it as something that could legitimately be a big seller at the end of the day? If you want to see some more “Shark Tank” highlights from this season, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
