‘Downton Abbey’ season 4: Who wants a role now?

Downton AbbeyThere is a sense of irony when it comes to “Downton Abbey” at the moment when it comes to casting: this is a show in many ways that many people cannot wait to get on to; but at the same time, this is a show that recently lost two of its regulars following a tragic third season. (Warning: the following contain spoilers.)

So wants to be parading around upstairs potentially with Robert and Cora next? This time around, the honor goes to Michelle Keegan. Speaking to FHM in a new interview, the “Coronation Street” actress had the following to say on the subject of just what her interest would be in doing a part on a successful period drama like the extensive ITV production:

“I really want to do a period drama – something like The Tudors or Downton Abbey … I’m working on the accent at the moment!”

Of course, Keegan is a little late in the game to sign up for season 4, as the scripts have already been written and filming is actually set to begin this month. There are some new roles presumably being looked at; but unlike many American series, Julian Fellowes has quite a knack for keeping most of the finer details under wraps until the episodes actually air. Take, for example, the way in which Jessica Brown Findlay’s Sybil exited the picture. (We knew Dan Stevens was going to probably leave, but what we did not know was how until the episode aired.)

Who would you want to see appear on “Downton Abbey” in a dream scenario? We want to hear some more of your thoughts with a comment below! If you want to see the hilarious new spoof of the show courtesy of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” you can do so over at the link here.
