‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8: Josh Radnor talks season 9 renewal
While we know that most of the “How I Met Your Mother” family is celebrating the fact that they are getting a ninth and final season starting in the fall, we’re not sure that anyone is smiling brighter at the moment about it than Josh Radnor. The actor has explained in the past that he rather enjoys the structure in his life created by his job on the CBS sitcom, since it also allows him enough time to work on some side projects … including a pair of films he directed in “Happythankyoumoreplease” and “Liberal Arts.”
Radnor is at Sundance this year promoting a new movie in “Afternoon Delight” that he did not direct, but is starring in; and speaking to “Access Hollywood” while at a red-carpet event, he had the following to say:
“It was great [to get another season] … When there was fear that we were suddenly just going to not come back, it felt a little weird to end like, oh, 10 more episodes and you’re done with this massive chapter of your life.”
Radnor (who was relatively unknown at the time of his casting on the show) still has plenty to be excited about when it comes to the “How I Met Your Mother” storyline. Not only is he finally going to be learning who is the mother in the upcoming season, but we will also be getting an opportunity to see him with a crazy new love interest played by Abby Elliot. There may be even more stories beyond that, but the plans for the ninth season are by and large being kept a mystery.
