NBC’s ‘Parenthood’ season 4 finale spoilers: Who will Sarah choose?

“Parenthood” will be coming to a close for the year on Tuesday night, and while there are plenty of questions that remain, there is one we wish that we knew the answer to now: whether or not this is going to be the end of the season, or the series as a whole. NBC programming head Robert Greenblatt expressed an interest in bringing the show (which has tragically been juggled around the schedule over its four-season run) back for another year, but was also noncommittal about whether or not it will actually happen.

So if this is the show’s final episode, what can you expect? Well, there will be some important movement on a number of season-long storylines.

1. Just when you thought that Hank and Sarah were going to ride off into the sunset together, Jason Ritter is going to return as Mark … and Lauren Graham’s character is suddenly going to have to make a key choice. We’re fans of both characters, so the sad part of this is that we are probably going to be sad no matter how this turns out.

2. We will find out some more information about Kristina’s cancer battle, and whether or not she is on the mend after undergoing treatment.

Sadly, the rest of the storylines this week are still being kept tightly under wraps, and we don’t know what else is going to be happening when it comes to Crosby or any of the other characters on the show.  The joy in “Parenthood” not necessarily comes via the element of surprise, but the subtlety and grace in which some key stories are handled.
