‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 11 preview: Ellen Pompeo’s big debate
There are some big stories coming up when it comes to “Grey’s Anatomy,” and we actually can see two of them play out in the latest sneak peek below from Thursday’s “The End Is the Beginning Is the End.”
Let’s start with the plot that Meredith tries to sweep under the rug: that she is at the end of the first trimester, and as Derek says, this is the time in which most mothers traditionally make the big reveal to their friends and family that they are expecting. You don’t want to reveal it too early in the event that you have suffered a miscarriage, but Ellen Pompeo’s character seems to be far too transfixed on something else at the moment to really even care: the settlement in the plane crash lawsuit. While she tells Derek that she believes a resolution is near, he feels as though it is going to take far more time before they ultimately know just what the courts are going to rule.
At the end of the day, though, it turns out that it is Meredith who was actually right here. The survivors of the crash were informed that the case would be won in their favor, as the airplane company had a history of mechanical problems that Seattle Grace should have been made aware of when it was authorized (by Owen, no less) that they could use this plane for their trip. Now comes the kicker: the settlement is a whopping $15 million per person.
So why might some of the doctors be hesitant to celebrate this achievement? The only reason we can think of is that they are well aware of the fact that this is a sum of money so steep that it could bankrupt the hospital, and their financial gain would come at the expense of so many other people who are suffering and did nothing wrong.
If you want to see more on this settlement, including one person who is going to be immediately excited upon hearing the dollar amount, be sure to head on over to the link here.
