ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 2 spoilers: ‘True Blood’s’ Scott Foley scores story arc
Is there anyone at the moment better for story arcs than Scott Foley? The man has recently done a pair of memorable gigs on “True Blood” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” and now he is re-teaming with Shonda Rhimes for a show of hers that is currently taking off into the stratosphere: “Scandal.”
So who is Foley (who has already filmed the entire first season of “The Goodwin Games”) going to play? No one knows just yet, but sources tell TVLine that he will have a major part in the story, and will be around for a good chunk of the show near the end of season 2. As of right now, much of the focus is around Fitz’s recovery from the assassination attempt and the aftermath of a forgery, but this story is really only expected to continue for a few more weeks before the show shifts gears. After all, Rhimes designed a 13-episode arc given that the show did not originally have a full-season pickup, so the back nine episodes could have a bit of a different flavor to them.
Rhimes has also made it pretty clear already that she is a major fan of Foley’s, with her saying that she would have loved to have kept him on “Grey’s Anatomy” forever if she could. (However, his arc on “True Blood” interrupted matters, and that run ended just as he was filming the “Goodwin Games” pilot.)
As for whether or not Foley could have a longer role on “Scandal,” it depends largely on two factors: whether or not his character has a reason to return, and whether or not “The Goodwin Games” actually gets renewed for a second season.
