NBC’s ‘Smash’ season 2: Watch the season premiere now! (Video)
Just in case you really do not want to wait to watch the premiere of “Smash” season 2 on NBC February 5, there is some good news coming out now: you don’t have to. Instead, you can see the entire premiere online now (at least so long as you are living in America).
In a rather interesting move, the network has put up the entire first episode on their official website, three full weeks before the show is even going to be on the air. Why do this? We have one simple answer for it: confidence. After the first season of the show became something that a good percentage of viewers loved to hate, new executive producer Josh Safran has some work to do convincing people that this is a show that really is deserving of praise. There are new cast members (led by Jennifer Hudson), an increased focus on the world of Broadway rather than personal problems away from the stage, and no Ellis around for people to throw metaphorical darts at.
We’re going to save our review until we get a little bit closer to the episode actually airing, but the one thing we will say straight out the gate here is that this is a vast improvement over most of season 1. The issue? That the first episode last season was also really good, and then everything started to snowball from there. It is going to take a few weeks of goodwill before we are really on board the “Smash” train again after being burned once before.
In case you have not heard, “Smash” was also a huge hit at the Golden Globes this year when it comes to fashion. Be sure to click here if you want to find out who was daring enough to show a lot of skin even in spite of some surprising cold temperatures in the city.
