‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ to welcome Lance Armstrong; is a confession coming?

Oprah Winfrey has landed some pretty big interviews within the past year on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” (with David Letterman and Justin Bieber being recently examples); and now, she could be speaking with someone whose story has become a major part in the history of both sports and of steroid use.

OWN announced in a very quick announcement that there will be a special edition of the interview show featuring famed cyclist and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong on Thursday, January 17 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. Armstrong has drawn controversy for years over suspicions that he used performance-enhancing drugs in order to get an advantage in competitive racing events; and despite his frequent details of any wrongdoing, he has been banned from competing professionally.

What makes this interview notable is that this is the first time that Armstrong has booked an interview since deciding that he will no longer fight all of the charges and suspicions against him, and there was also a recent report from the New York Times (as reliable as a source can be) saying that the cyclist was considering coming clean soon to the charges against him. Considering that Oprah is planning to air this interview streaming online in addition to on her network, we have a feeling that something big is going to come out of it.

In addition to his cycling work, Armstrong has also founded the cancer research and support charity Livestrong, which he has severed most of his ties with already in the wake of this steroid scandal.
