ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 2 spoilers: A coincidental casting
Shonda Rhimes is going to be going back in time moving forward on “Scandal” season 2, and she has also devised some casting that is in a word rather cute.
According to a new report from TVLine, Adam Shapiro has been cast as a man romantically attached to Lindsay Dwyer named Jesse. The kicker? We already know that Jesse dies in an explosion that Lindsay is accused of causing several years ago … and we also know that Lindsay of course later become Quinn Perkins.
As if all of this was not crazy complicated enough, know that Shapiro (who is getting set for a guest gig on the new NBC comedy “1600 Penn”) is also married to Katie Lowes (who plays Lindsay / Quinn) in real life. In speaking to the website about having this sort of cool opportunity on the show, here is what the actress had to say:
“Working with Adam was totally surreal and wonderful! We’ve done tons of theatre together over the years, but never anything like this. Plus, he might be the biggestScandal fan ever himself, so he was jumping around like a five-year-old when he booked the part.”
This should be a very fun memory for these two, but we are also hoping that “Scandal” fans are going to be getting something rather important and entertaining out of these flashbacks, as well. Shapiro is going to be a part of episode 12 of the show, which means that this will be near the culmination of the first major story arc that Rhimes has planned. (The second arc begins with episode 14.)
This has turned out to be a furiously-busy time for casting on the ABC show: after all, we also just learned that we will be getting a visit pretty soon from Fitz’s father on the show. How can you not be excited about all of this?
