NBC’s ‘Smash’ season 2 spoilers: New boss talks changes, more music
During a discussion about the show with reporters on Sunday, executive producer Josh Safran started things off by promising that the storylines from season 1 (such as Julia’s affair) would still be around, but they would surface in terms of consequences for the past:
“[We’re looking at characters who were] side-tracked emotionally and how that would impact your work, like Julia … It’s still is same Smash: it’s bigger, there’s more music, it’s maybe younger in some regards, with new cast members.”
Safran also noted that there would be at least one original song an episode, and that the focus of the show is indeed going to be more on Broadway in all forms … including an additional show in “Hit List” that is going to feature a love interest for Katharine McPhee’s Karen. Somewhere, Jennifer Hudson’s character is also going to factor into all of this.
For those who want to own a piece of the “Bombshell” action, there is also some good news when it comes to that: on February 22, the network is planning to release a full album of music from their fictional play. Pre-orders on the disc will begin on Tuesday.
