‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: First photo of the show’s official beer
Earlier this week, “Game of Thrones” fans officially became a little bit drunker with the announcement that the show is launching a new official beer entitled the Iron Throne, which will be available prior to the show’s official season 3 launch in March. Now, you know that there are some people who are going to be pulling a Robert Baratheon right in the middle of the show.
Based on the first photo of the bottle coming in from the Ommegang brewery, it is pretty safe to say that this is definitely a beer to drink after you’ve already come home from a night on the battlefield. It is massive at 25 ounces, and it also is rather old-school in that it comes with a cork rather than a bottle cap. In trying to explain the concept for the blonde ail, the company’s brewmaster Phil Leinhart reportedly had the following to say:
“It made us approach development in a completely new way and I think the first edition Iron Throne reveals that … With a Lannister currently on the throne, it made sense to do a delicate, but piercing Golden Blonde Ale with Noble hops. Iron Throne is certainly fair in color and soft in appearance, yet it still possesses a complexity and bite to be on guard for.”
With this drink, it will really just be the icing on the cake for many fans if it has a nice taste, mostly since we suspect that many will pick it up just for the sheer novelty of it (just like the dead with the fake Tru Blood that came in stores a few years ago). It is a way to show support for your favorite show with a unique product, though in this case you better make sure you’re over 21 first.
