‘Royal Pains’ season 4 review: An uneven winter wedding
Now that the “Royal Pains” two-hour special Sunday night has finally aired, we have an opportunity to share some of our complete thoughts on what was an exciting (if uneven) two hours of television.
Let’s start things off with what it was about this episode that we really enjoyed: getting the opportunity to see Evan and Paige finally tie the knot. The ceremony hardly went off without a hitch, as most of the guests were unable to attend due to bad weather, Evan’s dad told a massive lie about the wedding band, and he also had a ghost from his past show up courtesy of a distant relative in Owen who he was convinced he hurt badly courtesy of a bad investment years ago. Even in spite all this, though, there were happy endings all around for the couple … at least save for the fact that Hank is back in the hospital and suffering mightily from the aftereffects of what happened with Boris over the summer.
As for what was a tad troublesome, we turn to the Divya storyline, mostly because it took away the best part of the summer season and suddenly made her old boyfriend Rafa look like the good guy. He returned this week and the two even got married in Las Vegas in a spur-of-the-moment move; however, they later realized it was a mistake and decided to annul the whole thing and go back to just being friends.
But where was Dr. Jeremiah Sacani in the middle of all this? We were shipping him and Divya like crazy all episode long, and while we saw the return of Jill Flint this week, Dr. Sacani was apparently in Iceland and was unable to make the trip bad to the Hamptons due to the terrible weather. Sad, and his absence was strange given how big a part of the show he was all summer.
