‘Gossip Girl’ series finale spoilers: Dan and Serena’s showdown (video)

We know that it was not over for Dan and Serena on “Gossip Girl” the moment that Penn Badgley’s character dropped an envelope into her luggage; and thanks to that, we now know for sure that our leading lady did not even make it out of the Upper East Side before having one last meeting with that show’s most-complicated man.

So who is the real Dan Humphrey: the one who exposed Serena bit by bit in a chapter published in Vanity Fair, or the one who said so many beautiful things about her in the unpublished manuscript inside the envelope? This is the question that Blake Lively’s character asks in the latest sneak peek from the series finale airing on Monday, and she makes one other thing clear to go along with: this is Dan’s last chance to figure this out, and “both” is not an acceptable answer to her anymore.

We already have video proof that there will at least be an attempt at a Chuck / Blair wedding during this episode, so could Dan and Serena be taking a few steps towards happily ever after, as well? It’s possible, but this is going to be much more difficult for the two of them given just how much baggage that there is for the two. Plus, how will Serena ever reconcile the fact that most people out in the world believe Dan to be the one who scorched her to the ground in his tell-all? This is perhaps the question that will eat at her the most.
