‘Arrow’ spoilers: ‘Teen Wolf’ alum Colton Haynes signs up

Well, that didn’t take long at all, did it? Only a matter of weeks after the news first broke that he was not going to be joining “Teen Wolf” for season 3 (a move that was apparently not in the plans for some of the creative people behind the scenes with MTV), it has now been revealed that Colton Haynes has now bounced back in a rather spectacular way … and it’s over on The CW.

According to a report from TV Guide, Haynes is set to make an appearance on “Arrow” at some point early next year, where he will be playing a love interest for Oliver Queen’s sister Thea (Willa Holland) named Roy Harper. Executive producer Greg Berlanti kept his comment on the actor relatively short and to the point:

“We were big fans of Colton from Teen Wolf and we are thrilled he’s joining Arrow.”

Now, here’s the real question: how major is the role of Roy going to be on the show? Fans of the DC Comics series already know that he carries with him the alter ego of Speedy, and he is Oliver’s sidekick for a time. However, fans also know that Thea is also Speedy, and the show seems to be going in this direction more for her based on the fact that Oliver occasionally refers to her by that name from time to time. Even if Haynes is not around for too long after his initial appearance, it is likely for the sake of mythology that he is somebody that the show will be keeping around for quite a while moving forward. This is, after all, what they have done with some other notable evil-doers including Deadshot (seemingly) and the Huntress.
