‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Jamie Foxx, Jason Sudeikis have a little fun
After a two-week layoff, “Saturday Night Live” is going to be back in action this coming weekend, and the latest promo features a man who certainly seems to be game to have a little bit of fun: Jamie Foxx. After what we saw courtesy of Jeremy Renner and Anne Hathaway during two recent dreadful shows, isn’t it time that we had someone with genuine comedy chops back on the show, and someone who is not just going to make a bunch of jokes about being an action star?
Luckily, just about everything that we are seeing courtesy of Foxx so far looks promising. In the promo, he and cast member Jason Sudeikis have fun with mixtapes, Christmas, and of course plenty of awkward comedy. Foxx has shown via his own show over the years that he can play a variety of characters; the bad news? We also know that the man can sing. At this point, we are completely over seeing musical monologues just about every week.
As talented as Foxx is, for whatever reason this show is still not getting a great deal of buzz thus far. Is it due to the show’s recent struggles to attract big headlines, especially now that the election is over? We’re not quite sure, but with the few weeks off at least the writers should have hopefully had the time to come up with some material that matches the quality of this promo. If it doesn’t work out well, we only have one more show to look forward to this half of the season airing the following week.
