The Bachelor spoilers: How could Matt James’ journey end?

We’re a week away now from the season premiere of The Bachelor, and yes, it’s absolutely crazy to think about. It was less than a week ago that Tayshia Adams’ journey came to a close!

Even thought we just watched Tayshia become engaged and go off into the sunset in her little yellow taxi with Zac, the excitement to jump into more Bachelor content is very real for a lot of us. There is so much intrigue surrounding Matt James as a lead — there’s an excitement that comes with the unknown, given that we’ve never seen him on TV before. We have no real idea on how he’s going to operate in this environment, and the show’s going to need to work overtime to gets us invested in him right away. That’s why the franchise normally will cast a past alumni on most of their seasons; they recognize that this is the #1 way to ensure people are on board from the premiere since they are already invested in the lead… that’s not the case here.

The video below does at least give us a signal that Matt will get to the point where he contemplates proposing, and that’s good to see since this is where we want to end up at the close of his journey. This is a man who has said he’s never been in love before, and with that, he’s going to need to really have to open up this season if he wants that to happen for himself. It’s possible the ring is a misdirect and that Matt doesn’t propose in the end, but we are hoping for the best for him.

Despite the bubble-like setting, the preview suggests that we are getting a fairly straightforward season of the show. There is no switcheroo with the lead coming, and we could have a lot of fun dates ahead. Normally we are used to being whisked away to romantic locales, but Tayshia’s season showed us that the location doesn’t matter as much as the cast, because her season was one of the best we’ve watched.
