‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Huge Barney and Robin scoop!
Remember how we said that “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 was set to ring in the holidays with an hour-long episode? We now have more details about this extra dose of holiday cheer, and it contains a valuable present to fans of Barney and Robin; while we cannot say for sure that the two characters will be getting together by the time the hour is over, there are likely going to be even closer than ever to making it happen.
Before we even begin with the “The Final Page (Parts 1 and 2),” we need to first share the official synopsis of episode 10, entitled “The Over-Correction,” in order for everything to make sense:
“Barney’s developing relationship with Patrice leaves Robin questioning his motives, while Marshall’s widowed mother gets back into the dating pool, but he thinks she may be swimming with a shark.”
Now, let’s dive a little deeper into what this “Final Page” truly means for our beloved couple. (Synopses via TV Guide.)
Part 1 -“Robin takes steps to have Patrice fired from WWN, while Marshall puts a jinx on Barney. Later, Ted invites his architecture professor to the dedication of the GNB building; and Marshall and Lily bump into an oddball acquaintance from college.”
Part 2 – “Christmas approaches and Ted wrestles with whether to tell Robin about Barney’s intentions involving Patrice, while Marshall and Lily get an early Yule gift, a night away from Marvin, but a case of separation anxiety strikes and threatens to ruin the evening.”
So what are Barney’s intentions involving Patrice? She’s the most annoying character ever and Robin hates her, so really there is only one guess that we can come up: this is all a rule to get Cobie Smulders’ character to admit her feelings. Granted, it’s a pretty mean thing to do to Patrice, but the show has already shown time and time again that it is not above throwing snowballs (or fake love interests) in her direction. As for the “oddball acquaintance” mentioned in part 1, that is none other than Seth Green, who remembers everything about Marshall and Lily even though they cannot remember him.
