‘Two and a Half Men’ season 10: Charlie Sheen chimes in on Angus T. Jones
When you remember that he was previously the sole tabloid story when it came to “Two and a Half Men” meltdowns, it was only a matter of time before Charlie Sheen finally issued some sort of statement about his former co-star Angus T. Jones’ recent claims that the CBS sitcom is “filth,” and that people hoping to be upstanding Christians should not watch the show at all.
Sheen’s comments to People Magazine are interesting for a number of reasons. For one, the man notorious for being long-winded and often obnoxious about his former employer (who fired him in early 2011 after getting into a nasty war with showrunner Chuck Lorre) chose to keep things rather succinct here. In addition to that, he also made an interesting analogy between Jones’ new beliefs and the Heaven’s Gate religious cult in 1997, who famously committed mass suicide believing that it was the only way to get aboard an alien ship following the Hale-
“With Angus’s Hale-Bopp-like meltdown, it is radically clear to me that the show is cursed.”
What also is interesting here is that at one point following his own meltdown, Sheen said that he and Angus had a great relationship on set, and there was never any indication then that the young actor was unhappy with his job or wanted out. This all seems to be a product of a change in his life within the past year, as he has taken on a controversial new Christian mentor in Christopher Hudson following getting baptized at a church that is not affiliated with the man in any way.
The one final thing worth noting here is that Jones is not expected to be back on set for “Two and a Half Men” until 2013, which means that the decision about his future could be several weeks in the making.
