‘The Bachelor Canada’ finale review: Did Brad Smith make the right choice?
It may not be Thanksgiving in Canada like it is in the United States at the moment, but we still have an inclination that viewers of “The Bachelor Canada” are still feeling as though they have quite a bit to be thankful for at the moment.
For at least a good percentage of this season, so much so that we even thought that the ending here was set in stone, it felt as though Brad Smith was going to pull a Ben Flajnik and pick the woman who was been desperately going after him all season long in Whitney Lee. She was competitive, brash, and often opinionated when it came to the way she handled the other woman, and she was also attacked brutally for it at the “Woman Tell All” special.
Ultimately, what was refreshing in watching Brad pick Bianka Kamber as his new fiancee was that contrary to so much couples who are on “The Bachelor,” these two (at least superficially) appeared to truly do things the right way. They were honest with each other from the start, did not rush into romance before they were ready, and they actually planned for a life beyond just being on the show. The crazy part of the choice is that if you go back to the premiere, Bianka was not someone that was on the radar of many people at all. She was best known for dating Kim Kardashian’s ex (and former Toronto Raptors player) Kris Humphries, and she was so insecure about getting her heart broken again that she was reserved for most of the show.
So congratulations are in order for Brad and Bianka, especially since we now know they are still together and are even looking for a house. Now, we just have to hope that the two parties find a way to make their relationship work long-term, which is something that no American “Bachelor” has succeeded at ever when it comes to the woman he proposed to during the finale. (The closest we have his Jason Mesnick and the runner-up Molly Malaney.)
What did you think about the finale, and do you believe that Brad made the right choice?
