‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ bothers Robert Pattinson again … with Thanksgiving
While many other late-night shows go for laughs of a more direct variety, “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” often opts for a very different sort of strategy: giving us sketches that in some ways are really terrible, but they are simultaneously hilarious in a way that you cannot really explain. One fine example of this is the “Let Us Play with Your Look” sketch that recently starred Lindsay Lohan; as for another, we turn “Robert is Bothered.”
The one thing we should point out about this sketch first and foremost is this: Fallon’s Robert Pattinson has never really been very good, and it seems to only get worse as time progresses. However, Jimmy makes you start to laugh at it based largely on how committed he is to trying to make it work, whether it is by sticking his version of the “Twilight” star up in a tree or having him riff on topics that “bother” him … even when they are things that everyone else likes.
One fine example of this? Thanksgiving, which is the subject of the latest video below. All in all, this really is a rather sensible holiday that just about everyone should like. However, “Pattinson” finds a way to find something wrong with everything from the food (stuffing bread up a turkey’s butt) to some of the traditions to even the way in which the holiday was supposedly created by the pilgrims hundreds of years ago. He of course gets very worked up (even to the point of doing chin-ups!), and it’s roll-on-the-floor funny by the end.
Have you liked this sketch since the very beginning, or did “Robert is Bothered” in your mind come to its natural conclusion when Pattinson actually appeared alongside Jimmy in the sketch?
