NBC’s ‘Revolution’ fall finale spoilers: Is Charlie an angel?
In looking at the first poster for Monday night’s fall finale of “Revolution,” we cannot figure out whether or not we love it, or whether or not it frankly drives us crazy. Why? It’s in some ways cool, but in some ways completely ridiculous.
The one thing that we do love about the image is how every character is placed almost as if they are stuck in a battle of good vs. evil, even though there is really so much gray area in there to be considered. For example? Is Rachel really that horrible at all? Not really; instead, she just seems to be in survival mode by making sure that Neville and Monroe need her in order to be a means to their end. Conversely, Miles is considered a good guy now, even if he is in part responsible for the militia being as powerful as it is today.
Now, we turn to the weird part of this poster: why is Charlie standing in the middle of this like some sort savior for everyone? While she has been placed firmly in the role of the “chosen one” all season long, she has also been the show’s biggest problem: a whiny, ill-tempered character who seems to lack any sort of personality beyond the present situation. She’s basically Katniss from “The Hunger Games” minus what makes Katniss cool, and it is a bit of a strange decision on NBC’s part to place the much-maligned character front and center on this poster, while relegating both Giancarlo Esposito and Elizabeth Mitchell to places that are much easier to overlook.
Following this fall finale, “Revolution” will go dark (pun intended) until March, when the show will return and once again air alongside “The Voice.”
