‘Doctor Who’ season 7: Check out the new Christmas Special trailer!
Although we sadly do not have a first look yet at the upcoming “Downton Abbey” Christmas special, we do now have the first video at another momentous occasion for the holidays: the long-awaited Christmas episode of “Doctor Who” season 7.
While the special alone is always a ratings monster for BBC One when it airs, there is also something rather important to point out here: this episode also marks the first appearance of none other than Jenna-Louise Coleman as The Doctor’s new companion. She’s not entirely going to be exuding Christmas cheer throughout the episode, but we love at the start of the clip that she shows off some of her personality … and also references the fact that she has been on the show before in a different role.
Rather than seeing this episode actually based off an individual Christmas story, though, what is fascinating is how they are concocting what is really their own story that is engaging, exciting, and something rather different than anything we have seen with some of the Christmas specials thus far. We already know that it will be a ratings smash; and now, we just have to hope that it draws some good numbers to go along with it.
For viewers in America, the show will of course air on BBC America, as it is their highest-rated program in addition to the success that it has back in its home country.
