‘Jersey Shore’ review: a breakup Situation, a lonely Snooki
While “Jersey Shore” season 6 started off with a whimper (and plenty of boredom), we are happy to see that the show is at least finding its voice before it does reach the grand finale; and really, we have one person to thank for this in Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
Now that we are starting to see a little bit more of the Situation of old following his stint in rehab, the show is so much better as a result, whether it be through watching him break up with his girlfriend Paula after only ten days of being together (hilariously not before getting a tan in case she was angry at him afterwards), or him possibly deciding to apologize to Snooki and Jionni at the couple’s baby shower over the infamous “hookup” that he still insists happened just before the start of season 4 taping in Italy (the guy is persistent, if nothing else.) Is this the appropriate place for the apology? Not exactly; as a matter of fact, it’s going to be the second instance of a man maybe apologizing to a future father-to-be at the shower for doing something inappropriate with Snooki. Vinny is also thinking of giving a “mea culpa” over sleeping with Snooki after the fight that went down during season 4.
The shower does not happen until next week, tragically, so we were left with both a massive cliffhanger and absolutely nothing for Snooki to do. Just by her name alone, we understand her inclusion on this season; but when she is on the screen, it almost feels like a different show since she’s often lonely, often unhappy, and she doesn’t really have anyone to spend time with. Back in season 3, it was hard to imagine the show without her; not, it’s difficult at times to see her gelling with the rest of the show.
