‘Mad Men’ season 6 spoilers: Good news for January Jones fans

If you look back on “Mad Men” season 5, one of the biggest criticisms handed down for the AMC series was simply that there was not enough of a character that everyone has come to know and either love or hate over the years: Betty Francis. From a real-life standpoint, it made sense: January Jones was on maternity leave for a good part of the season, and there was really only so much that she could do.

However, you could argue that the move to minimize Betty also made some sense within the context of the story. After all, this is a series that is really about Don Draper; if he is not married to Betty anymore, how often would she really be involved in his life save for an occasional appearance? Jessica Pare seems natural to take her place as Megan, mostly since she is Don’s new wife and would naturally be a focal point of the story.

While we do not necessarily see how it will be possible just yet (and Matthew Weiner would probably send a team of assassins to our desk if we were to speculate too much), TVLine reports that we are likely to see more of Jones this year than we did through all of the 2012 season. This is not necessarily a guarantee, but it’s something that we have to be somewhat pleased with.

In addition to that, the show is also casting a pair of British businessmen in their 50s. Who are they? Of course, we do not know the answer to that just yet, and we probably won’t until the show airs. The same goes for a score of young women that producers are looking to bring on board.
