‘Dexter’ season 7 spoilers: How will Deb’s heart be broken next?
“Dexter” season 7 has been all about Deb’s emotional journey as much as it is Dexter’s following the revelation that he is a serial killer, and yet he has found another unique way to hurt her even more than he already has: by sleeping with the enemy.
At this point, it’s pretty clear to most members of Miami Metro that Hannah McKay is not only a killer, but she is unfortunately so good at it that there is nothing the police can do about it. A mountain of a motives are screaming in Deb’s face that she was involved in the death of her new crush Sal Price, but there is no real way to prove it unless the right screens come back with traces of a poison. So Hannah goes free … and we get the conflict of the century Sunday night.
Why? As evidenced in the promo below, Deb actually wants her brother to put Hannah on his table, but the problem is that he can’t thanks in part to the feelings that he has for her. When this finally comes out to his sister, she is going to respond to it by saying that she is more devastated than ever. While he did not directly murder someone that she had some feelings for, he is part of the reason for his death. Granted, Dexter didn’t know that Sal and Deb went out on a few dates, but does that really change anything?
The last thing that is worth pointing out about this promo is something that is not even mentioned in it: the title. “Argentina” is a clear reference to where Hannah and Wayne Randall were eventually going to flee to after their killings were complete, so there is some sort of a theme of finality here. Is Yvonne Strahovski’s time on the show nearing an end? Doesn’t seem that way: we know that the Hannah character was originally supposed to be around for two seasons, but that was said long before the part was even cast. Therefore, it really still all is up in the air.
