Ratings: NBC’s ‘Revolution,’ ‘Gossip Girl’ hit lows; why is ‘The Mob Doctor’ still on?
The other shoe is finally starting to drop for “Revolution,” and by this, we mean the fact that the issues related to this show are starting to steal away from some of its hype and a great lead-in. Hopefully, someone over the hiatus will try to fix Charlie and some of the other characters; otherwise, things may not be getting better here anytime soon.
With that being said, it is hard to think that anyone would be upset over what we did see from Monday night’s new episode considering that people may have went to bed early in order to get an early start on the voting. “Revolution” dropped under a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic for the first time with a 2.9, and “The Voice” also dropped somewhat to a 4.5 that is still easily enough to win the night.
The news was really far worse still for other networks: “Gossip Girl” (a series-low 0.3) continues to limp slowly towards its inevitable death, and “90210” (0.4) hardly fared any better. Meanwhile, CBS and Fox are looking almost silly for keeping “Partners” (2.1) and “The Mob Doctor” (1.0) in their lineups even when they know that there is no long-term potential for either show. They are effectively bringing down their lineups, and in the case of CBS they would almost be better just plugging in a “Big Bang Theory” repeat instead.
The final thing worth examining here is just how old ABC’s lineup is skewing now. “Dancing with the Stars” may be scoring more than 13.3 million viewers, but a 2.1 rating is the same that “Partners” is drawing with half of the total audience. They need to find a way to make this show and “Castle” (which really tried with its best episode of the season) appeal to younger audiences rather than just the same viewers every year.
