Unfortunately, there isn’t going to be a lot of it coming on the air tonight. SNL is taking a one-week break so that everyone on the show got a chance to enjoy Thanksgiving. Following this, though, we’ll have three more episodes to close out the year. Check out some details on them before.
December 7 – Jennifer Lopez. This is an exciting addition, given that she hasn’t been on the show in a long time. Also, she’s in the midst of an awards-season campaign for Hustlers, so we feel like she’s going to be especially game to take on a lot of interesting choices and big risks. All of this, combined, is what we love to see in an SNL host who isn’t otherwise fresh of mind.
December 14 – Scarlett Johansson. It’s weird to call Scarlett a staple of the show at this point, but she basically is with so many hosting gigs under her belt. While she’s found herself in some controversy here and there over the past year, she’s always delivered the goods on this show and will almost certainly do so again here. We wouldn’t be shocked if her Ivanka Trump returns, and for the writers to play up her real-life relationship with Colin Jost.
December 21 – Eddie Murphy. No offense to either Lopez or Johansson, but we know that this is the hosting gig a lot of people are looking forward to. This is one of the most-famous alum in the history of the show finally coming back to host. While we don’t know what Murphy’s comedic chops are going to be so many years removed from being on the show, we worried the same thing about Adam Sandler and he was amazing.
