In the sneak peek below, you can get a good sense of what we’re talking about here as Sam, Callen, Deeks, and Kensi all take part in a game of hoops complete with trash-talking and possible foul speculation. Also, Kensi shoots hoops granny-style, which surprisingly works for her at the free-throw line.
As fun as a lot of this is, none of it really compares to Eric Beale turning up at the end dressed as a referee, and wearing short shorts all the while. For some reason, he decided to put all of this on (including a whistle!) just to tell the team that there is some sort of breach happening and that there could be some danger. Oh, how we’ve missed Eric.
A lot of this is tonally different from what we’re going to be seeing for the rest of the episode — after all, the primary story of “Mother” is about Henrietta Lange and some of her past. You’re going to have a chance to experience a little bit more of what happens when someone brought up in a world of violence reacts to it. It’s going to be a hard thing for her to digest, mostly because of the fact that she has long felt that her way of doing things was the only way. While not necessarily connected in some way to this past installment, we do think that it will dovetail off of it as you saw the differences between Hetty and Nell play out in almost real time.
