Outlander notes: Caitriona Balfe on season 5; Sam Heughan on Scotland
If you did not know, Caitriona is at the moment preparing for a press tour for her upcoming film Ford v. Ferrari. She missed the red-carpet premiere due to production, but expect a lot of different interviews and pieces over the next week. That includes a new interview today in Parade, one that includes discussion on both the movie and also Outlander season 5. One of the things that she did break down is one of the most appealing things about playing Claire — the variety that it presents her as a performer:
The great thing about Outlander is that because we don’t stay necessarily in one time, and because it is this epic fantasy, you get to really play very varied things all the time. So it feels like it stays fresh for us, which is really very unusual as an actor.
Caitriona also talked about adapting The Fiery Cross, and the balance challenges with it given that Jamie and Claire aren’t in every scene of the source material:
When we’re in production, we’re in production. We can’t do other things. Occasionally, we can get out for a day or two to do press for the movie or whatever. Production has been really great in allowing both Sam and I to do those things. We’re not in it as much; I’m not in every single scene like I used to be. But we’re still in it a lot, so you don’t really get a chance to do other things during production.
Sam Heughan spotlights Scotland
Today, Sam posted a video looking at some of the best locations that Scotland has to offer — as he said himself in the caption below, he does love the outdoors. Yet, there’s so much more that Scotland has to offer! It’s a great little visual primer for tourists, and it’s yet another reminder that he is as good of an ambassador for the place as you’re really going to find.
