Lindsay Arnold misses Dancing with the Stars after mother-in-law’s death

Lindsay Arnold

On Monday night’s new episode of Dancing with the Starsthere was a chance to see a number of notable performances … but then also one notable absence.

At the start of the show tonight, it was revealed that Lindsay Arnold, partner to former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, ended up missing to spend time with her family. Her mother-in-law passed away, and following that, Jenna Johnson stepped in to dance with Sean. The show did send all of their well-wishes to Lindsay as she and her family cope with what is such a tragic loss.

The support within the ballroom to Lindsay does speak heavily to the relationships that exist within this show behind the scenes. Many of the pro dancers on Dancing with the Stars were friends and knew each other long before starting work on the ABC series. It’s a relatively small community and because of that, there are a lot of close bonds that people can form with one another. There are also a lot of long hours spent together working on the show every week, and everyone has been together as a part of the show family for the past several years.

Sean and Jenna’s performance was, in the end, met with mixed reactions among the judges in the room, but there is still a chance that he could stick around for another week. While he is getting one of the lowest scores of the season, he does have a sizable audience and that much has been shown throughout the past several weeks of the competition.
