Mayans MC season 2 episode 9 spoilers: Who’s protecting who?

As we approach Mayans MC season 2 episode 9, it feels as though there could be more than just motorcycles on fire. The entire world of Santo Padre could be burning before the end credits roll.

Let’s start off this preview with a reminder as to the course of events tonight — at least at the end of the installment. The attack on the Mayans led to Riz potentially being stricken blind. He claimed he couldn’t see at the end of the episode, but there’s not enough time to know if that’s a permanent twist or not. Either way, don’t you think that EZ, Bishop, and the rest of the crew are all going to get revenge? Doesn’t it feel as though this is where we are eventually going?

Then, there is also the massive chaos bubbling up between the Reyes and Galindo families. We’re not going to pretend as though it was a surprise to learn that Dita signed some of the checks leading to Felipe and Marisol’s hit jobs — it’s not. This is the sort of Shakespearean twist that a show like Mayans loves to present. Dita admits that she loved and cared about Felipe and yet, she may have been a part of a plot to kill him. Why? Just because of him being with someone else over time? Or, was it because of the information that he knew? This is the true stakes of the present — if Felipe were to utter the truth about Miguel’s parentage, that could invalidate him in front of the cartel. That’s especially true when you consider Felipe’s ties to the Federales.

With Emily learning the truth about the checks, Felipe may need to protect himself and his sons for a storm coming their way. Meanwhile, Emily may seek out to protect her family … but she may also underestimate Miguel’s reaction to hearing the news. She has to protect herself, but will her husband really work to do the same for her? We can’t say we are so sure.

Alas, the Mayans MC season 2 episode 9 synopsis fails to deliver too much more in the way of information, one way or another — but it’s still thematically interesting as a table-setter: “Dramatic revelations carve out different paths to vengeance.”
