Chicago Fire season 8 episode 7 spoilers: Questions over Severide’s future
For a good chunk of the NBC show these days, there’s been a tendency to worry about one character’s future or another — it’s a symptom of the writers killing people off (we are not over Otis, and not over what’s possibly happening to Shay), and also the nature of this business. Firefighters change houses sometimes, or move into other positions in the departments. It puts you as viewers into this weird position where you want to root for these characters to get better careers and more money … but then you also have to remember that they’ll probably leave the firehouse and that’s awful. Why does this show mess with our emotions so much?!
Yet, this seems to be the spot that Severide is in entering Chicago Fire season 8 episode 7 — and the synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below serves as proof of that:
11/06/2019 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Wednesday) : Severide must make a tough decision about the future of his career at Firehouse 51. Herrmann deals with the consequences of his temper after a run-in with a Chicago police officer. Cruz is excited to demonstrate the Slamigan at the Firefighting Expo. Commissioner Grissom returns.
If there’s any small consolation we can offer you entering this episode, it’s this: There’s been zero buzz that Taylor Kinney is leaving the show. He seemed as eager about the show as ever when we saw him at One Chicago Day earlier this month. We have even more from our time at the One Chicago media day in our video below – be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on our updates on Chicago Fire.
Speaking of things we’re eager about, isn’t it going to be fun to see Cruz do his version of a Shark Tank pitch at a firefighting convention? It’s something that Joe Minoso teased to us at One Chicago Day … but he did also note that things don’t go according to plan. Don’t expect Cruz to just leave the convention rolling cash and arriving to 51 the next day in a Benz.
As for things we’re not eager about, think in terms of Grissom. Sure, Gary Cole is awesome, but it feels like him and his magic mustache may be a part of Severide’s decision-making. He’s whispering things into Kelly’s ear — we wouldn’t consider them to be sweet nothings, though. Instead, it’s more of him just guiding Kelly into whatever direction he wants in terms of his future.
There is a new episode of Chicago Fire airing on NBC tomorrow night — want to preview it? Then head over to the link here.
