Mayans MC season 3: Will it still happen after Kurt Sutter firing?
Following our initial report today, new details have unearthed via THR detailing a number of different complaints that transpired behind the scenes on the show. This led into an investigation and, in the end, Sutter’s dismissal. He blames his “abrasive” attitude for his exit in a letter to the cast and crew, but also maintains that the show can go on without him:
I’m not sure what the fate of Mayans MC holds. But if it continues, you’ll still be in good hands. As I said at the [premiere event], Elgin is ready to take on the challenge of running the show. I’m sure FX will get him the support he needs to find and follow his vision.

Will there be a season 3? That remains currently unclear, as the ratings for season 2 are down in live metrics. Yet, the same can be said for almost every single show on primetime TV these days. This is just not an era where we see series flourishing all that much in live numbers since viewers can just watch it after the fact. We believe that FX would want another season, given that they don’t have some extreme bevy of scripted hits at the moment and this one does have a solid audience and a loyal following. Would this audience still be there without Sutter? That may be a fear on some level, given the loyalty that Sons of Anarchy fans show to him. He’s one of a small handful of showrunners that have a larger-than-life feel to him. (Sutter may encourage viewers to keep watching, but they can still make whatever decision that they choose.)
Will Mayans MC season 3 happen without Kurt Sutter, and should it?
