This Is Us season 4 episode 5 spoilers: All about ‘Storybook Love’

When you see that This Is Us season 4 episode 5 carries with it the title of “Storybook Love,” the initial response may be to think that it’s sweet. Then, you remember that this is This Is Us and it’s a show that, more often than not, loves to leave you in pools of your own tears. We imagine that different forms of love (good and bad) could be components of this upcoming story, in addition to some other characters realizing that you don’t get a storybook ending because you’ve found a solution to a problem.

Take, for example, with Randall — it felt in some ways at the end of last season like he and Beth had figured some things out. In moving to Philadelphia, they could have a solid opportunity to give their family a better life. Randall could be closer to hope, Beth could open a studio, and the kids could meet new friends. Yet, they’re going to realize that things aren’t going to be so easy.

For Kevin within this episode, he may be looking to create a better situation for Nicky — remember, after all, that he gave up a movie for him! This is Kevin 2.0, a man trying to be caring and supportive. He’s also a man who may be going too far out of his way to help everyone, or he’s compelled in some way to get closer to Cassidy. Their relationship is one of the most intriguing, and still-mysterious, parts of this season. We’re excited to find out more about where it is heading over time.
