Charmed season 2, Dynasty season 3 premiere ratings down on The CW
Let’s start things off, though, with Charmed — for most of last season, it had the luxury of being paired up with a stronger show in Supergirl in a better timeslot in Sunday nights. Now, it’s been moved to Friday and the ratings reflected that last night — think in terms of a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Whether or not it stays there remains to be seen, but we don’t tend to see shows surge a lot in the ratings on Friday until at least the winter — otherwise known, of course, as when people start to flee from the cold.
Over with Dynasty, meanwhile, the news was even worse — the premiere episode there generated just a 0.1 rating, which does help to further beg the question as to how this show manages to even stay on the air. It does bring a lot to the table creatively, but we also know that the folks over at The CW aren’t just keeping the show around because they like it. They’re seeing something here with it that they enjoy and appreciate … even if not everyone else does. (Dynasty has mostly stuck around on the basis of its international streaming deal — it’s proven itself to be very popular in some other corners of the world, and we have to believe that this is something that The CW hopes to maintain for as long as possible.)
As for one other bit of news worth noting, The Blacklist season 7 stuck around to its 0.5 rating that it had for the premiere. We write about this mostly out of curiosity as to whether or not the show could stick around for a season 8. We do think that it’s possible, even if that season 8 ends up being an abbreviated one with just 13 or so episodes. There are enough open Blacklisters on the list right now to make this very thing possible!
