Nancy Drew premiere ratings start okay; SWAT, Stumptown slide
After all, we don’t think that the ratings are enough to call Nancy Drew a sure-fire hit by any means. Last night’s premiere episode ended up generating a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and then over 1 million viewers. This is in line with some recent new-show premieres for The CW, though it isn’t close to what Batwoman ended up drawing for its own premiere.
What Nancy Drew probably has going for it is that this is the sort of series that could fare really well within the streaming world. Because of its mystery-based nature, this show could easily be binge-watched in the weeks to come … especially since The CW can offer up their episodes for free online.
As for what else transpired in terms of the ratings for last night…
Bad news for SWAT and Stumptown … Let’s start off here with the former, as the Shemar Moore-led series slipped down to a low 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Can you blame the new timeslot for it? Sure, but given that it was on at 10:00 p.m. Eastern on Thursdays last year, it’s hard to blame the poor performance on just it airing one night prior. Maybe if you want to blame it on Chicago PD airing against it, we’d understand that.
How did the Riverdale tribute fare? – Let’s be honest — a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic is absolutely nothing to sneeze at. Yet, at the same time we almost expected a much stronger performance since we re talking here about a much-hyped installment that paid proper tribute to a great actor in Luke Perry. Still, like with Nancy Drew, a big part of the Riverdale audience is going to be viewers checking out the show much later.
For those wondering, The Masked Singer ended up winning the night by drawing a 2.0 rating in the demo.
