The Conners season 2 episode 4 preview: What will Darlene decide?

Next week, The Conners season 2 episode 4 is going to bring you all sorts of material. For example, you’ll have more of Katey Sagal, you’ll meet someone new in terms of Harris’ life, Becky will try for a new gig, and Darlene is going to make a huge decision in regards to her future. “Lanford… Lanford” should prove to be a big episode, even outside of the comedy that it’s going to bring to the table. There is some stuff in here designed to push the story forward in some specific ways.

“Lanford… Lanford” – Desperate for more income, Becky seeks a bartending position at Casita Bonita, causing major concern for Dan due to her struggle with alcoholism. Meanwhile, Darlene finally nears a decision between David and Ben; and Harris’ new friend, Odessa, means new trouble on “The Conners,” TUESDAY, OCT. 15 (8:00-8:30 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Episodes can also be viewed the next day on ABC.com, the ABC app and Hulu.

We’re at this point now with The Conners where the story is all about trying to find a way to keep things going — this is no longer some flash in the pan. It’s not an experiment anymore to see if the show works without Roseanne Barr. It’s an established hit at this point, and it’s a series that ABC is relying upon as a part of its schedule. They know it’s successful for them and want to do whatever they can in order to keep things rolling. The best way to do that is, of course, continuing to be smart and steady. The last thing that they can ever do is start to slow down or rest on its laurels; that is the sort of thing that often hurts “revivals.” The best thing that The Conners can do is not feel like a revival, and instead focus on being a show that operates within the present and only looks towards the past for references and character development.

At least story-wise, we do feel like the second season is off to a great start.
