God Friended Me, NCIS: Los Angeles delayed; start time on CBS

CBS

Are God Friended Me and NCIS: Los Angeles delayed over on CBS? If you find yourself asking these questions, we come bearing news!

Because of NFL programming, the start times for both of these shows was pushed back in the first place to 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. Yet, even with that delay, there was another one that came about because of (you guessed it) a football overrun. By the time the game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos was over, it was 7:44 p.m. Eastern time. Then, you had a little bit of post-game coverage that came on before 60 Minutes even started.

By the time that 60 Minutes started, it was close to 7:46 p.m. Eastern time. With that in mind, it is fair to expect that God Friended Me will begin at 8:46 p.m. Eastern and then NCIS: Los Angeles at 9:46 p.m. If you’re on the West Coast, you don’t have anything to worry about here. (We advise you to check your local listings, just in case your local affiliate chose to not pick up the Denver/Jacksonville game and started 60 Minutes on time.)

For longtime fans of all CBS Sunday-night shows, this is something that you are all very much familiar with at this point. It’s a symptom of the amount of money the network has invested in football, which they have showed time and time again. It’s also a function of their commitment to 60 Minutes, which always tends to capitalize big on the ratings momentum generated by the NFL beforehand. It’s a little unusual for 2019 to have a major network use pro football to boost the ratings of a news program, but CBS has often done it.

Know that this is far from the last time that you’re going to see this happen this season — it won’t be every week, but it still will be a common occurrence.
