‘Elementary’ spoilers: Meet Joan Watson’s mom!

Considering that the seed has already been planted that Joan Watson’s parents are not entirely approving of her recent change of profession following a stint as a surgeon, it was really just a matter of time until “Elementary” actually decided to introduce at least one of the characters into the fold.

According to a new report from TVLine, we are going to have just that courtesy of the ninth episode of the season airing on December 13, as former “Close to Home” star Freda Foh Shen is going to be stepping on board the show for the character. Should we expect plenty of tension here? Definitely, and what makes us more excited than anything else here is the possibility that Sherlock Holmes could end up meeting them and reating even more of a stir, given his tendency to not really hold anything back when it comes to his opinions.

This has been a rather good week for the Jonny Lee Miller show, as it was recently picked up for a full season by CBS despite dropping to its lowest rating yet of the season for Thursday night’s new episode. Then again, it is a little harder to put some stock in the ratings this year thanks to a pretty giant mess that has been created in part thanks to the Presidential election preempting various shows across the schedule and hurting the sort of introductory period that new shows use to lure in viewers. We do still love this show and in particular Miller’s performance, so we only hope that it will get better from here.

What do you think about the casting for Watson’s mom?
