ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: Ready to meet the parents?
Anytime that the parents come together for a meeting when you are a new couple, there is the potential for it to go very badly; however, this sort of situation can get far worse when you are detectives covering a big case case like Castle and Beckett are.
On the upcoming eighth episode of “Castle” this season set for the November sweeps, we are going to see our two leads becoming involved in a major situation with the mob on the same night that Castle’s mother Martha and Kate’s father Jim are set to meet each other. Based on what executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe tells TV Guide, there was probably no worse time out there for these two parties to exchange greetings, especially when there was so much else going on:
“There’s some tension because they’ve had the ‘meet the folks’ dinner and it hasn’t gone particularly well … It’s about who Martha is versus who Jim is. It’s a bit of oil and water.”
So will everyone on the force know by that time that these two characters are actually seeing each other? By having the parents meet, Castle and Beckett are clearly moving into a part of their relationship where they are seeing this relationship last; but even with that, they may be wary to make their dynamic at work awkward, since they are investigators on crime scenes that other people have to spend time with. (Ryan already knows, but for the time being he has decided to keep the information to himself.)
Does this information about the parents’ dinner suddenly have you much more excited about this “mob episode”?

CarlagUK – I tend to agree more with carleer marie of Belgium. Lovey dovey is good – DOUBLE RAINBOWS at this point are realistic. These are two young people waiting 4 years for a first kiss…to have them in turmoil so soon :( I trust the writers to have common sense. From personal experience I can attest to “HAPPILY EVER AFTER” – which by no means is PERFECTLY EVER AFTER. Remember THE GLOW our ME Lanie spoke about? If there is chemistry, & these two have plenty, that GLOW should last a longer than this episode.
DINNER WITH THE IN-LAWS? I hope they make it fun – Martha & Mr. Beckett know each other from when Kate was shot by a snipper. These two characters are so different that they should complement each other in a way that could create the funniest situations we have yet to encounter. I would love to see Terri Miller & Andrew Marlow handcuffed to create more episodes together – they have a special touch for all things CASTLE :) WE HAVE SEEN THEIR MAGIC :)…ALWAYS :) :)

The meeting of the parents should prove to be amusing as indeed Jim and Martha seem to be from very different places but they are both good and honorable souls who love their offspring. I guess, as in life, compromise and tolerance will be brought to bear for ‘the kids’ sake. It should be great stuff to watch. It is future episodes like this, that are good indicators of where the ‘Caskett’ relationship is heading and shows the strengthening of that relationship.
At the moment, as I see it, the two of them are still very much ‘finding their way’
in their personal relationship whilst trying to hold down and continue with their professional one. It is a lot to deal with, for Beckett in particular, as she is still somwhat ‘haunted’ by Castle’s womanising ways and I guess this next episode, which we watch with great apprehension, won’t in anyway allay her insecurities. Conflict like this makes their struggle real. Having them ‘ lovey dovey’ all the time would soon become boring and unrealistic.
In my opinion Mr Marlowe is handling the situation very well indeed, whilst also giving us some interesting cases to watch. Long may it continue

Is it possible for Marlowe to see the positive side of their relationship? All efforts are made so that their relationship and mutuel situations collaps and are interrupted.
Is this the result for them after 4 years dealing with professional and personal problems? The story-line should look forward for more complicity between Castle and Beckett.

I agree with the above poster. That preview for probable cause is gut wrenching. Hard to imagine how they are going to get through it, but I have hope that this writing team is not going to put us through the ridiculous breakup/hook up cycle that we see with other shows. Honestly, it’s that process that causes the moonlighting curse, not them being together, but them being together and ripped apart over and over. Anyone in a happy long-term relationship can attest that there is plenty of material you can use to create drama without breaking them up.

Sounds like a fun episode and gives me courage to get through this next one! Especially after seeing the new sneak peak!
