Supergirl season 5 poster carries ‘United We Stand’ message
So how can you describe it? We’d use one simple word to celebrate it more than any other: Awesome. This is a great poster — it may actually be one of the best we’ve seen for an Arrowverse show in a while.
For starters, you’ve got Supergirl at the center of it allowing you another view at the new costume for the season — beyond just that, though, you’ve got most of the other prominent characters featured as well. You’ve got Alex Danvers, Dreamer, James Olsen, Brainiac, Lena Luthor, and Kelly Olsen all featured in one way or another. These are the bulk of the main characters moving into the new season, though James’ presence seems to be temporary at best. It looks as though Mehcad Brooks’ character will be leaving during the season — he’s one of the people we’re most worried about getting into the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event.
If you expand the post outward, you will see that “United We Stand” ends up being the slogan for the upcoming batch of episodes. Why is that important? It really comes down to Lena — much of this season is going to end up being a battle-of-sorts for this character’s conscience. It’s going to be an opportunity to learn a little bit more about where she stands and also if Supergirl can get her fully on her side. We firmly believe that, when the dust settles, that Lena is a good person. We think that she wants the best for the world in her heart, but she has impulses, darkness, and issues that are going to do battle within her head. She’s going to have to fend off some of these demons if she wants to find herself okay in the end.
The larger threat for the season seems to be the mysterious organization Leviathan, but also technology as a whole. How dangerous is it? The comparisons between the series and Black Mirror are already out there and we’re expecting them to be a component in everything coming up.
