So when is the big crossover event going to happen this time? The good news is that you don’t have to wait all that long to see what’s happening over the next few months. In a new post on Twitter, Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas confirmed that the crossover will happen in episode 4, which should air at some point in October. The crossover is going to start with Fire this year before bleeding into Med and then PD — that makes the most sense, largely because most problems start with a fire and then, you treat the victims of said fire. Then, the police can investigate possible crimes around it. Sure, this is a rudimentary look at how this sort of stuff can go, but it’s a possible depiction of how some of this could unravel.
The challenge for the crossover is of course as simple as trying to find a way to make some of these stories bigger and bolder than anything that we’ve seen before. Think in terms of larger stunts, creative twists, and character combinations that we haven’t had a chance to see before. In a lot of ways, staging crossovers becomes more difficult over time because you have to find new ways to twist around the narrative. You may have devoted viewers, but you want to keep them entertained!
Rest assured, we plan on hearing more news about the crossover event as we get a little bit closer to it airing over on NBC. Keep your eyes peeled for updates!
