MasterChef season 10 episode 17 preview: The ultimate mystery box

Are you ready for MasterChef season 10 episode 17? The next phase of the cooking competition is coming tomorrow, and what’s excited about it isn’t so much that it is something new. Instead, we’re looking at more of a natural evolution to something that we already have: A mystery box challenge.

Let’s be honest here for a minute — these are, without a doubt, the best thing that MasterChef brings to us on a regular basis. There’s just something so innately appealing about seeing these home cooks forced to be creative with a weird batch of ingredients. The format works on Chopped and it almost certainly works here.

So what makes this upcoming Mystery Box Challenge so interesting? Well, it may very well be the most intense one that we’ve had a chance to see due to the sheer number of ingredients alone. We like this as a measure of seeing how creative everyone can be … and also if there is a way to see dishes that are all fundamentally different from one another. Taking risks and standing out is the way to go at this point in the competition.

Of course, the whole Gordon Ramsay demonstration is something that has become a fundamental part of the show. You tend to get it at least one time a season and it’s that moment where everyone’s jaws hit the ground when they see him cook. The man is a wizard! He does some stuff that only others can dream of and a lot of his creativity knows no bounds. We’re excited to see if he inspires everyone … or if that just puts some added pressure on them to succeed, which we know nobody really needs at this point in the show’s run.
